Liverpool are reportedly in talks with the agents of Belgium attacker Malick Fofana.

The Reds have been moving very fast in the transfer market, having signed Jeremie Frimpong, while agreeing deals to bring in Milos Kerkez and Florian Wirtz.

The duo are expected to finish up their medicals in the coming days ahead of being officially announced as Liverpool players.

But while all the eyes of fans are presently on Kerkez and Wirtz, Liverpool are already making moves beyond those two signings.

According to French publication L’Equipe, Liverpool have started talks with the agents of Lyon forward Malick Fofana.

The 20-year-old has become one of the most wanted youngsters in the market after a breakout campaign in which he registered five goals and four assists in 29 appearances.

Liverpool have been linked with a move for him in times past, and he even spoke directly on reports linking him with a move to Anfield in the past.

“Honestly, I hear about it (Liverpool and Arsenal) but it doesn’t affect me, so I just focus on myself, and I know when I do great that the rest will come,” Fofana said.

“I watch a lot of the Premier League, I know there is a lot of big clubs, so for the moment, I just want to make that return on the pitch.”

“In my head, I said to myself – ‘this season I have to show myself to the world’.

I know I am capable of that,” he explained.

“I know my talents, I know what I can do, so it was just a matter of time?

I know people will always talk – I stay calm, I have a great mentality so I know it will come.”

While the youngster is keeping himself grounded, Liverpool have already started discussions with Roc Nation, the agency that represents him.

This is according to L’Equipe, who claim that despite Chelsea beginning talks with his agent, the Reds have a “solid argument” in the race.

“Beyond Chelsea, interest from other big clubs could shake him up: while Nottingham Forest doesn’t seem to have the required stature, despite contacts, Manchester United and especially Liverpool have solid arguments,” the report noted.

“The Reds have even already started discussions with the player’s new agents, the Brazilians from Roc Nation, who are increasingly established in England, where they notably manage the careers of several players at Crystal Palace, where John Textor owns a 45% stake.”
